The Top 10 SEO Mistakes ~ #1: Keyword Research

Keyword Elite 2 review

Obtaining the right keywords to promote is the largest undertaking for web site these days.
Getting the appropriate keywords to target, you will never realize effective searche engine rankings.
Strong SE rankings is what you demand for sales and traffic.

How do you recognize what keywords to aim for your web site?
There are many another resources out there that can do the job. Some are paid and some are free.
Most people that use a free program, use the Google Keyword Tool.
You just use a seed keyword and Google will show every outcome for that keyword, including synonym words.

This is great when you are starting out to receive all the keywords that are relevant for your site.
After you noticed the keywords, you can view the competition by merely going to the SE and type in “keyword” and you will view the total of pages that are optimized for that keyword.

What web site owners do next is the largest mistake someone will do!
They guess they recognize the optimal words and competition level.
Bad! You precisely overlooked the possibility to search all the relevant keywords and to learn your competitor in depth.

This important fault will cost you sales or traffic.
Say you are doing it the way I described before. You choose a keyword, look at the number of pages and you think that it can be done. You start optimizing your web site and you start adding links to your page. After a week you find out that you only get to the 3rd page and you get no traffic and no sales. You just wasted very valuable time.

What should you do?
There is only one product on the internet that can help you find the keywords you require and to check out how difficult it is for you to rank well.
That software is Keywordelite 2.

This software finds all the keywords you require. Do you want to find the best 100 words or the best 1,000? No problem. It will show you those keywords with the number of searches per month.
Also you can check out your competition. Find out if their pages are optimized, how many backlinks they have and how old their domain is. The software will also show you if it is possible to outrank them easily!

I have been 10 years on the internet and I never saw anything like this.
I owned Keyword Elite 1.0, but with the newest update it just became incredible.
Keyword research can make or brake your online business.
People are always telling you, buy this or buy that.
Forget about it, this is software you just can’t do without if you are serious about making money. It will pay itself back easily.

Help answer the question aboutTop Keywords

What makes a PR3 web site come on top for competitive keywords?
My web site has a PR of 5, still I'm not being able to get top postions.. I think I have pretty revelant links, but others with lesser PR, lesser no of links are surpassing me. What could be the reason? Internal optimisation? like keyword density, meta tags, internal linking etc? or even more relevant links?

First of all, throw pagerank out the window, pagerank is irrelevant.

It could be a handful of things, but definitely not meta tags.

I'll give you 5 guesses at why you're being outranked…

    1. Domain age. Your competitors domain is older and more trusted.

    2. Anchor text. Your competitor's links have better anchor text.

    3. Authority of domains linking to your competitor. Like you said. Do a Yahoo Directory/DMoz cross check.

    4. # of unique and quality pages in google's index. I've found that trusted/aged websites with lots of pages in the index are very hard to pass in the search results.

    5. Keywords in domain and onsite optimization. Are you using the best onsite optimization techniques like css image replacement? Do you have unique title tags for every page?
Here's a great new video from Aaron Wall on Onsite spamming..err..Optimization…
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joqvwo3WkEQ

5b. Domain age again. Is your domain still new? It may take 6 months or more, but once your domain gains trust with google you may see your website leapfrog all your competitors overnight.

While you wait for trustrank to kick in. Use tools like

    Link Hub
    http://www.linkhounds.com/hub-finder/hubfinder.php

    SEO for Firefox
    http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html

to go out and get all the same links your competitors have. Usually if they got em, you can get em.

    Good luck!

Just type your keyword in to Google and the first page that pops up is the highest ranking site. That's what a search engine is all about.

If you want to see where your site ranks for certain keywords, sign up for Google Webmaster Tools and Google analytics.

  14. Posted November 6, 2009 at 12:21 pm | Permalink

Look up "Search engine optimization" (SEO). Unless you are going to pay Google to be a sponsored link, you will struggle to do what you want unless someone searches somehting unique to your site

  15. Posted November 6, 2009 at 12:21 pm | Permalink

Contact the owner of the site and ask them very nicely whether they could possibly check their traffic stats to see how many times that page has been viewed recently.

hey it's not a problem, just everyday spend some time for your website. Do some link work with targeted keywords which you want.

it's purely depends on your website, product, keywords and etc factors also there.
