You need keywords which are frequently used by web users, yet not in high demand among your competitors. In order to find these keywords, there are many keyword research tools out thee which you can use.

Wordtracker is by far one of the best tools that is available for you when it comes to searching the relevant keywords that you need for your search engine optimization purposes of your website or blogs. Unfortunately this tool comes with a hefty annual or monthly subscription fee. Wordtracker also comes with a free trial tool and you will also have the option to pay a given sum to access the tool for certain duration. Other than Wordtracker, there are other tools including Google AdWords tool and Guidebeam.

Overture’s keyword tool which used to be free and a bit more faster than Wordtracker; in terms of functionality, it was similar to Wordtracker but will not let you know how many other websites are targeting that keyword or key phrase. The tool though was discontinued; the alternative now is Google keyword tool. If you feed in one word, this tool will give you all of the relevant combinations using this word along with the number of searches performed for them. If you entered something which is not being used very much, no results will come up; this tells you that few, if any searches have been done for that word or phrase.

Google Keyword Tool gives you potential keywords for use in your SEO and marketing efforts and gives you the Google statistics on these terms, along with their search engine usage (and trends in the frequency of searches for these terms). Other features of Google Keyword Tool include:

Sorting the results for your chosen keyword by popularity, history in the AdWords program, cost and predicted position.

Simple keyword manipulation, you can select keywords individually or add a large number at once.

Searching for keywords in any URL you specify. The tool can also search on pages linked to or from that URL.

The database of statistics is regularly updated, so that new keywords and key phrases are available as they come up.

Guidebeam guidebeam dotcom is another good keyword tool. Search for a keyword or key phrase and it will also suggest related searches. The statistics it gives for each keyword or phrase is weighted by relevance.

All of these keyword tools can be a great help to those who need to perform keyword research for the purposes of SEO for their own website.

Keyword research is the lifeblood of a search engine marketing campaign – either natural or paid search. If you don’t promote your site with the right keywords, you will waste a lot of time and money for nothing. The obvious place to start your keyword research for a pay per click campaign is the search engine’s own keyword tool. But you can go far beyond that to uncover keywords that are very effective for your business. Following are eight strategies for creating keyword lists.

1. Comb your web site for keywords. Every different way you have described your business on your site is a new keyword or set of keywords.

2. Think from your customer’s perspective. Are the words you use to describe your business really the way other people would describe it? Ask around. Whatever words people are using to search for your kind of business are the words you need to target, regardless of what terms are used in your industry. Don’t get so wrapped up in industry jargon that you end up paying for ineffective keywords.

3. Nichebot. We really like this web site. First sign up for an account. It’s free to sign up. Then type a starting keyword related to your service or product in the text box at the top of the page and hit the Search button. You can change the middle dropdown list to “Overture” to get a better idea of the actual keywords people are using to search in Yahoo!. But don’t overlook the “Word Tracker” option, which will generate a lot of keyword data.

The data will be returned with information such as the number of searches performed for each keyword, the amount of competition, and the KEI for each keyword (”KEI”, which stands for “Keyword Effectiveness Index”, is a value for the keyword based on a formula that considers the number of searches for the keyword relative to the number of directly competing web pages).

4. You can also look through your web logs for the search terms people have used on your web site or to find your web site. This is critical data that few businesses tap into. If people are already using particular keywords to find your site, then those keywords likely warrant extra promotion.

5. If you sell products, you can combine brands with attributes of the products (color, width, size, etc.) to create many specific, late buying cycle keywords. For instance, if someone is searching for “laptop computers” they are likely in an early stage of doing research in the process of purchasing a laptop computer. But if a person is searching or “HP Pavilion 15 inch laptop”, that indicates that he is further along in the buying process because he is researching a specific brand and screen size of laptop.

6. Competitors’ brand names. Most search engines’ official position on bidding on your competitors’ trademarks is that you can only do it if you are the owner of the trademark, a reseller of the company’s goods, or if you provide “substantive” information about the company. I suggest you bid on keywords that contain the brand, but don’t use the brand name in your ads.

For instance, if you were marketing a line of tennis shoes, you might want to create one generic keyword group that contained brands names such as “Nike”, “Reebok” and “Adidas”, and then write an ad targeting purchasers of tennis shoes in a general way, without referencing any of the competition. Some of the brand name keywords may get declined, but probably not all of them.

7. Try to think of keywords that reflect different stages of the searcher’s buying cycle. Early in the buying cycle, they will be looking for more general information about your type of service or products. Later in the buying cycle, when they are much closer to making a decision and doing business, they will use more specific keywords, which might include particular brands and models, or even locations to make a purchase. Try to use keywords that cover the entire buying cycle. It may be worth bidding higher for the more specific keywords because your conversion rate for those keywords should be higher.

8. Spy on your competitors. There are a couple of online services, such as SpyFu and KeywordSpy, that allow you to see what keywords your competitors are bidding on in their paid search campaigns. This information can be very useful. But don’t just assume that your competitors are smarter than you are. You will still need to test to see which of their keywords are effective.

And remember that you are looking for groups of keywords. Unless your campaign is very small, it is unlikely you will want to run a 1:1 ratio of keywords to ads. It will be a very unruly number of ads to have to create and monitor. So you will be assigning ads to small groups of related keywords, and writing ad copy that applies to all of the keywords. So if you’re going to run ads for “gardening”, you might as well run them for “flower gardening”, “spring garden”, and “planting”. The major search engines have some nice dynamic features that make it pretty easy to customize an ad for multiple keywords.

Using the above strategies, you should be able to greatly expand the number of keywords in your paid search campaigns, and generate many new keyword ideas for natural search. I recommend that you first use your paid search campaign to generate data related to your keywords, and then optimize your site for those keywords that convert at the highest rate, unless the keywords are too competitive to target with SEO.

WHY?
Hi everybody!

Thank you for your answers,

Question: I have reviewed some keyword research tools, and saw a great difference between them. For example Wordtracker gives for "interesting facts" – 44077 daily searches, while Trellian's Keyword Discovery tool says that it is 114. How it can be?

We all know that no keyword research tool has accurate numbers, but why they have so big differences?

When you take a look at the way that search engines are constructed and if you are interested in the relevant traffic that search engines can bring you, will soon be aware of the need for effective keyword research. When you work with keywords, you will soon realize that a good balance must be struck. If your keywords are too general, you will receive a great deal of traffic that is only peripherally interested in your product. On the other hand, if your keywords are too specific, there is a good chance that the keywords in question will not be searched for. When you take all of this into account, a specialist who has some experience with search engine optimization might be your best opportunity to make sure that you have effective keyword research done.

For instance, if you have signed up with a program like Google Adwords, a certain amount of effective keyword research will be necessary. The Google Adwords program is very simple, but it does take a certain amount of work to use efficiently. At its most basic level, Google Adwords will allow you to select a series of keywords. When those keywords are searched on Google, your link will show up on the sidebar to the right of the natural search results. When you are working on getting the right keyword combinations to bring the right people to your site, effective keyword research is essential.

Effective keyword research can take a great deal of time for people who are unused to it and are just beginning to feel their way around search engines. When you take part in Google Adwords, you are expected to experiment with the keywords a bit. Due to the highly changeable nature of the internet, one of the best advantages that you will have when working with Google Adwords is how quickly you can change it. You can change the keywords that you want, to relate your link until you get the right combination to bring the right people to your site.

It is also worth noting, however, that effective keyword research takes time that you might not necessarily have. To really make search engine optimization works for you, need to have a certain amount of experience on the way the field works and a good understanding of your audience. More than that, you need to understand an audience that may not recognize you yet. It is an interesting balance between using keywords that are both industry-specific and general enough that you will pull in the right people. A specialist can help you find the right keywords without sacrificing more time than absolutely necessary.

Whether you are new to the world of exciting search engine optimization or you simply feel like you could be getting more hits, remember that effective keyword research can be instrumental. Get a keyword specialist involved and you won’t have to do it alone; effective keyword research and experience can be yours with just a little bit of investigation.

Micro Niche Finder by James Jones is a keyword software tool that allows you to find untapped niche markets to dominate them via SEO. The main use of this tool is its ability to find niche markets and keywords that have low competition with reasonable amounts of searches.

Micro Niche Finder is very easy to use. All you have to do is input a base keyword in the market you are interested in. For example, you can put in dogs, dog house or digital cameras and hit the search button.

The software will then output a list of keyword phrases with information such as the number of searches per day and the competition level. There is also a column called strength of competition that gives a bird eye view of whether that keyword phrase is competitive or not. Green means it is easy to dominate in the search engines and red means there is some difficulty.

Once you have found some keywords that look easy to dominate, you don’t necessarily need to build a whole website for it. To monetizing the traffic, you can create a blog at blogger or create squidoo and hubpages for each single keyword phrase.

One of the advantages of using these web2.0 sites is that they already have high page rank and will rank them in the search engines easily. Coupled with low competition, your blogger blog or squidoo lens will surely be top of the search engine results.

Mico Niche Finder also allows you to export the keywords to an excel file. If you are new to keyword research, this software is easy and simple to use compared to other keyword research tools on the markets.

The results are returned fast and they are pretty accurate as well. The software is also reasonably priced and there is only a one time payment. Most keyword research tools on the market are monthly subscription based.

Searching for inbound links?

Want to improve your ranking on Google? Are you looking for a solid, reliable method to consistently build large numbers of inbound links over time?

You’ve come to the right place. Read on…

I have been working on my website for three years now. When I started, I had no inbound links. I was getting traffic from MSN and a little from Yahoo but none from Google.

Today most of my traffic comes from Google. As you know inbound links are important in the Google “algorithm.” It was part of Larry Page’s thesis when he started his search engine experiment.

I’ve tried a lot of different ways to build links. And, after three years, I’ve concluded that the best method is publishing articles through places like Ezinearticles and Isnare.

1. Keywords

Go to SEO Book.com. You’ll find a free keyword tool. Play around with it. Find some keywords that are popular to your subject area. Use them for topics. Work the keyword in a number of times in the article. Use it in the headline.

2. Titles

Article titles or headlines are critical. One of my first articles that I published with Ezine had a very bland title. It got very few views and was published very few times. Then I read Rosalind Gardner’s “Super Affiliate Handbook” and everything changed. She has a great piece on creating interesting article titles. She calls it “The ‘Secret’ Ingredient Every Article Needs.”

Use numerals in the titles. For example, “8 ways to…” or “7 tips to….” And use words like “avoid,” “how to,” “tips” or secrets”. You can probably find some sources on the internet with ideas on headline writing.

Creating snazzy titles is “must know” information so don’t neglect it.

3. Use Proper Grammar and Punctuation

You want webmasters to pick up your articles and post them on their websites and blogs. They may be turned off by bad grammar or incorrect punctuation. Your article will reflect on their site. So make it look good. Use Microsoft Word or WordPerfect and keep the spell checker and grammar checker on at all times.

4. Proofread

James Michener used to say he was not a great writer but he was a great proofreader. After your article is finished, print it out. It is much easier to spot errors on the printed page. Get a red pen. Read the article slowly and carefully. Pretend you are someone else. A competitor, for example. She would find errors in your text. You can do the same. Fix them.

5. Article Submission

There are hundreds of places to submit your article. My current favorites are Ezinearticles.com and Isnare.com.

Ezinearticles has a minimum word requirement of 250 but is very strict about its editorial guidelines. I have published articles at Ezinearticles.com and each article gets a PR (page rank) 2 from Google. This is good. Very good actually. And Ezinearticles is basically the Harvard Law Review of article publishing.

Isnare.com has a minimum word requirement but is much more relaxed editorially. I find I can publish more articles for my time with Isnare even with the higher word requirement. With Ezinearticles I am continually rewriting to meet their strict standards.

There are many other article repository sites and you can find them with a simple search on Google.

6. Distribution

Just getting the article published in a repository is only half the battle. Some webmasters will pick up your articles from the repositories. But, ideally, you want the broadest possible distribution for your article because that way more webmasters become aware of it and publish it.

One way to do that is through “article announcement lists.” These are mostly Yahoo Groups. You can find them through a search on Yahoo. David Viney also publishes a list on page 159 of his very fine book “Getting to the Top on Google.”

For my purposes I have found I get the broadest possible distribution when I publish at Isnare.com. For a small fee ($2.00 per piece) they send the article out to gazillions of sites. And, I start noticing the inbound links multiplying more rapidly. So I pay the $2.00 and feel it is worth the money.

There are other methods of achieving broad distribution. There is software that Rosalind Gardner recommends and claims to use herself that does the same thing. It is rather pricey but if you are writing a lot of articles maybe it is worth the money

7. Resource Box

This is the area after the article where you can put your info. The article is your “give” and the resource box is your “take” as they say at Ezinearticles. There is a whole technology on how to write a concise effective resource box to maximize your return. You can find some great articles on it at Ezinearticles.com. Be sure to include one of the main keywords from your site in your link’s “anchor text.”

Conclusion

Article marketing can generate massive numbers of inbound links. A nice side benefit is that they will also bring you traffic. It takes some time to learn but it is a solid link building and marketing strategy.

Keyword research should be a cornerstone of your online business. Unfortunately many online business people have no idea what keyword research is, how to do it, and how to use it to their advantage. Once you figure out what good keyword research is, you will easily see its importance in your marketing strategy.

The first step in keyword research is to understand how keywords work. When someone comes online looking for information they usually go to a search engine and enter a word or phrase related to what they are looking for. Once entered, this query will produce a list of sites related to the word or phrase they have entered.

Generally the first listing will get about 40% of the people who do the search to click on it. The goal of keyword research is to have your site come up number one in the search engine for words related to your site that people are actually using to search for information.

Finding Relevant Keywords

When choosing keywords you want to make sure you are finding words that are related and relevant to your content. If you keywords have nothing to do with your site you will never rank in the search engines. For example, if your site is about dogs you do not want to go after keywords like credit card, or internet marketing. They are both very profitable keywords, but have no relevance to your site. You want to find keywords that are directly relevant to the content on your pages.

To come up with good keyword ideas think about what you want your site to be known for. Are you the best place to find organic dog food? If so, you may want to do some research around the term dog food, and organic dog food. You also can think about what your site offers. If you offer information about a certain kind of jewelry or bracelet, you would want to do some research to find good keywords related to jewelry and more specifically the type of bracelet you offer. Try to find keywords as closely related to what your site offers. If you find those they will be more likely to convert to sales.

What makes a good keyword.

Internet marketers throw around the term good keywords all the time. It can be very frustrating for a new online business person, who just doesn’t really know what that means. A good keyword is a word or phrase that is relevant to your site, that actually has people looking for it, and is not too competitive so you can actually rank for it in the search engines.

How do you know people are searching?

This is where many people fall down in keyword research. They come up with relevant terms to use for keywords but fail to see if anyone else is actually looking for that specific term. You want to make sure any keywords you choose have people searching for that exact term. You can use a number of tools to get this information. You can use wordtracker, and now even Google’s Adwords Keyword Tool will show you search volume. Using Google’s tool is smart because it’s information straight from the largest search engine there is. You may ask, how many searches do I need? This is a good question and will certainly depend on your site, but you should definitely look for keywords with at least 50 “hits” a day.

How do I choose appropriately competitive keywords?

People used to just enter their keywords in Google and see how many competing pages there were. This is not a very effective way to check for competition. Anyone can put up a website, and when you just enter your keyword you are getting results from every site that mentions any and all of the words in your kewyord. You can start by entering your keyword in Google with quotes around it. This will give you the results for all the sites that have that exact phrase on their site. Even better just enter your keyword and check out the first page of sites. What kind of page rank do they have? How many links do they have coming to the site? These are the things you are going to be competing against them for, so it’s wise to make sure you can beat the top sites.

As you can see keyword research can be a little intimidating, just because there’s so much to it. However, once you get the basics of keyword research you can easily find profitable keywords for your site. Once ranked for profitable keywords your site will be getting targeted free traffic, which is what every online marketer wants.

Lots of marketers and ad agencies offer keyword research services. Keyword research and analysis are not as simple as using the free tools at AdWords and Overture. Advertisers must see beyond these tools and grasp the real time competition they are in.

Of course, design and interface are important, customer support and relations are equally important, but they’re all focused on what happens once a potential client gets to your site. And there enters the need for SEO.

And when you seek SEO to knock on your site, there comes with it, the inseparable “keyword research.”

Keep in mind that keyword marketing research would determine the success or failure of a site, no matter how user-friendly or well-designed the pages in it. While doing optimization, it is always recommended to do a competitive analysis to discover the top keywords used by online searchers to find services and products and what search terms are utilized by your competitors who are doing pretty well in marketing themselves.

To get straight to the point, keyword research is the giant step for any search engine “findability” effort whether it is off page or on page optimization. A well-optimized domain relies on good organic keyword density and using the right keyword tool for its PPC bidding strategy.

But the real fun begins in the use of KeywordSpy. I discovered this web-based tool a month ago, and it researches on competition as probably I’d never expect from any keyword software. When it comes to SEO, the keyword competition becomes a complex measure of your competitors’ strength that consists of their paid keywords, organic keywords an ad copy plus the corresponding analytics to measure keyword profitability. KeywordSpy quickly returns all this data in a well-designed interface, allowing you to even download the keywords and statistics to an excel or text file and sort those golden “money terms.”

Not only this tool provide data on keyword search volume and price, unlike other tools, the level of accuracy of KeywordSpy in data presentation is way high.

So next time you allow SEO specialists to enter on your site’s door, be sure that they tagged along the greatest competitor spy in town – KeywordSpy.

But then, I understand that KeywordSpy is still stranger to you at this point in time. Rest assured that I’ll expand on this tool on my proceeding posts at http://spot-sem-and-seo.blogspot.com/. I’m still in the process of learning and playing with its features and since I found it very impressive, I won’t miss sharing this to you.

www.nichemarketninja.com I’m Nick Madison, the self proclaimed “Niche Market Ninja”. I have been doing Niche Marketing for 6 years and have built up a portfolio of 280 Niche Websites, all outside of the make money online niche. Having such a large network of niche websites, finding new niche markets to tap into can be a challenge. Over the years I have devised a methodology for identifying Niche markets and associated keyword phrases that has massive commercial opportunity and minimal …
Help answer the question aboutKeyword marketing
Successful Niche Marketing?
How do I go about identifying profitable niches in Internet Marketing?

We all know some of the popular niches like golf and fly fishing. But these categories are too competitive with incumbents who have already paved the way into the market place.

I realized that it may not be that simple to just get into the common niche markets like this and be successful.

The hurdles are also stacked against you in terms of bidding for PPC adwords (going to be costly) and even if you were to do JVs, I believe these relevant JV partners would already have been approached by earlier incumbents.

Finally, the crux of the matter is also the lack of a frim understanding for most people in terms of the kind of tools that one can use to scan the market place for niche keywords which leads to an understanding of the types of market demand in question. The keyword results is based on what base keyword you type in and hence limited to that one category of choice for eg golf.

So, you want to start an internet marketing business. Here are three things that you need before you begin the process.

Direction:

To succeed with an internet marketing business, or any business for that matter it is imperative that you have clear and concise direction in mind. The first step in putting a business together is a business plan.

Set goals. Where do you want to be in 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, etc.? Commit these goals to paper and use them as a road map to success.

Develop the Right Product:

When creating a product or service you should ensure that it is something that you are passionate about. Do not jump into a niche just because you think it is profitable. Stick with something that you enjoy and are passionate about.

Understand:

If you are considering starting an internet marketing business to “get rich” overnight then you have been watching too many late night infomercials. There is no program or system that will make you an instant success in the internet marketplace.

Developing and operating a successful internet marketing business takes time, patience, and a very strong work ethic. Do not believe those who tell you that you can work part time and earn thousands of dollars per day as soon as you purchase their product.

Choosing the correct keywords is essential to the success of your online marketing campaign, it doesn’t matter whether its Google Ad Words, for more details visit to www.outsource-beginners.com Natural Search or even Article Marketing. A keyword is a describing word or phrase for your product or service. For example you could use the keywords, Internet, Keywords, Marketing, Internet to describe this article.

The internet is an organized place and is adhering to certain standards. You can no longer upload a website and expect people to find it…..no one will find you! Just as an offline business has a Marketing Plan, an online business must have an Internet Marketing Plan. Once you’ve produced traffic to your site, for more details visit to www.mrx-interview.com you have to keep them interested, make the sale, and have them come back again.

There is a lot of advice floating around the internet about article marketing. Like any freely available advice — some of it is good, and some of this advice is downright hurtful for you, and your website, in the long run. Now, there are a couple of different ways that you can go about article marketing — you can use it as a tool to generate direct traffic from popular article directories, or you can use it as a tool to help improve your website’s ranking in search engines. Some people like to have it both ways — while it works for some, it doesn’t always work out as well for others. However, for those who use article marketing for SEO, the number one mistake that they make is creating new competition for their primary key words.

It seems that everybody and their brother knows and understands that there is a potential traffic goldmine by targeting long-tail keywords. And yes, it is fairly easy to grab prominent rankings for slightly off-the-mark key phrases that still cater to a popular keyword market. However, if your goals for article marketing include improving your website’s rankings for a specific longtail keyphrase — the last thing that you should be doing is using those longtail keywords as the focal point of your articles that you are submitting to article directories.

As an example, let’s say that we wanted to target the long tail key phrase “article marketing for SEO”. Now, this phrase is not very good in terms of estimated search volume, however, it fits this article quite nicely. So, according to Google — there are around 7,000 websites that return as a match to the keyphrase that we want our website, or web page, to rank highly for. What happens when we create an article about article marketing for SEO, and then subsequently submit that article to any number of article directories, is that we are increasing the number of websites that have the potential to rank highly for that longtail keyword phrase. Moreover, if these articles are syndicated further to other third-party websites, we could easily be increasing the direct competition for this longtail keyphrase by hundreds of websites — this is just not smart marketing.

Sure, by placing links at the bottom of all the articles back to our website, and especially if we use the phrase “article marketing for SEO” as the anchor text that points back to our website — we will get some benefits out of our article marketing strategy, no doubt. However, the real winners here are the article directories where we are placing the content that was designed to attract individuals who we would prefer to find our own website through search engines. Well, those article directories and potentially the other websites who use our articles to help their own rankings.

Article marketing is a great tool for online business owners who want to increase the exposure of their websites. However, when you’re performing article marketing for SEO purposes, and especially if you are targeting longtail keyword phrases — you need to understand that with each copy of your keyword targeted article that is online, you are just making it that much more difficult for your own website to rank for those particular keywords.
