Searching for inbound links?

Want to improve your ranking on Google? Are you looking for a solid, reliable method to consistently build large numbers of inbound links over time?

You’ve come to the right place. Read on…

I have been working on my website for three years now. When I started, I had no inbound links. I was getting traffic from MSN and a little from Yahoo but none from Google.

Today most of my traffic comes from Google. As you know inbound links are important in the Google “algorithm.” It was part of Larry Page’s thesis when he started his search engine experiment.

I’ve tried a lot of different ways to build links. And, after three years, I’ve concluded that the best method is publishing articles through places like Ezinearticles and Isnare.

1. Keywords

Go to SEO Book.com. You’ll find a free keyword tool. Play around with it. Find some keywords that are popular to your subject area. Use them for topics. Work the keyword in a number of times in the article. Use it in the headline.

2. Titles

Article titles or headlines are critical. One of my first articles that I published with Ezine had a very bland title. It got very few views and was published very few times. Then I read Rosalind Gardner’s “Super Affiliate Handbook” and everything changed. She has a great piece on creating interesting article titles. She calls it “The ‘Secret’ Ingredient Every Article Needs.”

Use numerals in the titles. For example, “8 ways to…” or “7 tips to….” And use words like “avoid,” “how to,” “tips” or secrets”. You can probably find some sources on the internet with ideas on headline writing.

Creating snazzy titles is “must know” information so don’t neglect it.

3. Use Proper Grammar and Punctuation

You want webmasters to pick up your articles and post them on their websites and blogs. They may be turned off by bad grammar or incorrect punctuation. Your article will reflect on their site. So make it look good. Use Microsoft Word or WordPerfect and keep the spell checker and grammar checker on at all times.

4. Proofread

James Michener used to say he was not a great writer but he was a great proofreader. After your article is finished, print it out. It is much easier to spot errors on the printed page. Get a red pen. Read the article slowly and carefully. Pretend you are someone else. A competitor, for example. She would find errors in your text. You can do the same. Fix them.

5. Article Submission

There are hundreds of places to submit your article. My current favorites are Ezinearticles.com and Isnare.com.

Ezinearticles has a minimum word requirement of 250 but is very strict about its editorial guidelines. I have published articles at Ezinearticles.com and each article gets a PR (page rank) 2 from Google. This is good. Very good actually. And Ezinearticles is basically the Harvard Law Review of article publishing.

Isnare.com has a minimum word requirement but is much more relaxed editorially. I find I can publish more articles for my time with Isnare even with the higher word requirement. With Ezinearticles I am continually rewriting to meet their strict standards.

There are many other article repository sites and you can find them with a simple search on Google.

6. Distribution

Just getting the article published in a repository is only half the battle. Some webmasters will pick up your articles from the repositories. But, ideally, you want the broadest possible distribution for your article because that way more webmasters become aware of it and publish it.

One way to do that is through “article announcement lists.” These are mostly Yahoo Groups. You can find them through a search on Yahoo. David Viney also publishes a list on page 159 of his very fine book “Getting to the Top on Google.”

For my purposes I have found I get the broadest possible distribution when I publish at Isnare.com. For a small fee ($2.00 per piece) they send the article out to gazillions of sites. And, I start noticing the inbound links multiplying more rapidly. So I pay the $2.00 and feel it is worth the money.

There are other methods of achieving broad distribution. There is software that Rosalind Gardner recommends and claims to use herself that does the same thing. It is rather pricey but if you are writing a lot of articles maybe it is worth the money

7. Resource Box

This is the area after the article where you can put your info. The article is your “give” and the resource box is your “take” as they say at Ezinearticles. There is a whole technology on how to write a concise effective resource box to maximize your return. You can find some great articles on it at Ezinearticles.com. Be sure to include one of the main keywords from your site in your link’s “anchor text.”

Conclusion

Article marketing can generate massive numbers of inbound links. A nice side benefit is that they will also bring you traffic. It takes some time to learn but it is a solid link building and marketing strategy.

It’s not an easy task to determine which keywords to use while doing your SEO (also known as Search Engine Optimization) for your website. Unless you are highly familiar with the concept and dynamics of SEO, choosing a few simple words, well . . . it isn’t that simple.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with SEO in general – I’ll make it easy for you. Go to Google. Type in something you want to find or learn about in their search engine. The first entries that come up and the reason as to why they came up in the order they did, is all due in part to SEO. In recent articles, I’ve gone over what to use, how to increase your ranking, etc. But I never really went over how to choose your key words which is the most important part!

When choosing my key words for SEO – first and foremost, I do a test run. I will run a sample search in google and see what results I get for a specific phrase – I specifically look to see how many sites or pages come up with that EXACT keyword. For instance, “web design Westchester ny” has those key words in every link until about the 20th or 21st page. That means that it’s a pretty popular SEO key word search. From this, I can conclude that it will be a little more difficult to get on the first page since my search resulted in quite a few pages that I’d have to beat out.
IMPORTANT: This does NOT mean that this is a popular keyword that people are searching with, instead it is what companies or websites are using as their keywords for people to find.

One of my favorite ways to combat my competitors is to use google adwords. Yes I know this is meant to advertise your website on google, however, they actually have a pretty awesome tool called keyword tool. This tool allows you to search a particular keyword and then tell you keywords that are similar and what their monthly search volume is, what last months search volume was, and what level of competition you have. It’s a pretty awesome tool I think! This is where I basically get my key words.

You always want to find a keyword (using google adwords keyword tool or whatever tool satisfies you) that has a good search volume and a low level competition scale. A keyword may have a high search volume, but if you can’t get on the first page then it is useless. I would rather have a keyword with a search volume of 100 a month where I am the first link, than be on the 5th page of a keyword with a search volume of 1000. That could be 100 new potential customers that will visit my site, versus MAYBE 1000 new customers that may never even get to your site. Think of this question… when you search on google how often do you go to page 5?

In your keywords you should always try to specify a location, because local SEO is much easier then just doing a keyword of ‘dog walker’. That will be almost impossible to get on the first page unless you are posting articles every ten minutes for years. The more specific your keywords are the easier it will be to get on the first page of a search engine. Don’t think which keyword has the most volume, think of which keyword will get you the potential customers and the sales you need.

Another issue I have with SEO is all the websites that ask you to pay them hundreds of dollars to keep track of all your SEO. Google allows you to do this for free with a few of their applications, so don’t fall into the trap of paying $200 dollars a month for a company to just tell you what your stats are. It’s completely different if they are actually doing the leg work to get you on the first pages of google, but not if you are doing the majority of the work and just want to know what your rank is and what your opponents ranks are.

Trying to compete in the arena of internet marketing without a good keyword research tool (not to mention a free keyword tool) is like going to slay the dragon with your everyday kitchen steak knife. Your tool is too small and you are about to get yourself hurt. Big time. Think about it like this….the army with the most guns will usually win the war. With a free keyword tool you have a single gun, and a small one at that. But what a solid paid keywords research tool will give you is an arsenal of firepower that can be wielded so many ways that most campaigns become virtually indefensible by the competition. It’s the difference between guns and bows and arrows. There is just no way to win if you are using inferior weapons.

A good keywords research tool will provide you intelligence on the competition that the free tools will never deliver. How much content has your competitor published? Where is the strongest competition on the internet for your campaign? What exactly has your competitor published and how are going to beat them? Try answering all those questions with the free tool Google provides you. You will not stand a chance and neither will your campaigns. You should have tool that gives you all this information with the click of a single button in half the amount of time it would take to track it down manually, even if you already know how to do that which is doubtful. I don’t know about you, but I need as much time as I can get. I heard they weren’t making any more of it.

Owning a good keyword research tool is being serious about internet marketing. If you are just playing and dipping your toe in the water to check the temperature, OK. But you will never make any money that way, at least no more than a dinner and movie might cost you. But if you are looking to make a living, you will never compete with the marketers who are already experiencing success in their niches. They have already learned their lesson. Free ain’t really free. There is a price to pay for being cheap and skimping on your keyword research. That price is losing profitable spots on the front page of Google by the people who own a $100 tool and are beating your pants offs at will. Information is king and his sword is a good keywords research tool.

Keywords research tools come in many forms and you can pull your hair out trying to figure out which one is for you. At some point in your search you will have to trust someone and decide to buy one. Until you do, you are no more tan a hobbyist. However, I doubt that is why you are reading this article and if you are still reading at this point, maybe you already know it is time to get serious or get to finding you a new hobby.

So you are creating a website, or about to create one?

To have your site found by people who are looking for the information you provide, you need to ensure that the search engines which index your site, are getting the right information to index on.

So that the right “message” is being sent to the engines, is based on what keywords they find in:

The content of your site.

The title of your website (within the title tag).

The words or phrases in your site’s URL.

Well written “natural” content is the best way to include keywords in your content, and those other places mentioned, but just what keywords should you use to include there?

Fortunately, most of the tools that can give a good guide to what keywords will be most effective, in terms of both searches per month and the number of results returned, are freely available.

Google Suggest: this is the small window which drops down in the search bar when you type in a search. Start with the phrase you really want, then look down as you type to see other suggestions, and the amount of results returned. Basically these results are your competition .

Google Trends: Show the trends in searches over time. This will let you know if the keyword is maintaining popularity.

Google AdWords Tool. Handy to show searches for many related keywords.

Your Typical Article Marketing should include 7 vital parts of profitable article marketing promotion, otherwise you will earn very little despite of your hard efforts. Every internet marketer should use typical article marketing as a proven and effective marketing method to promote affiliate products, or their own product and services.

Your Typical Article Marketing - What are the 7 Vital Parts of Profitable Article Marketing Promotion?

1. Advanced Keyword Research For Every <a rel="external nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.articleinsiderprofit.info” target=”_blank”>Article Marketing Promotion Campaign.

Successful article marketing starts with proper keyword research. Try to find out low-competitive long-tail keywords to get to the 1st page of Google as fast s possible.

2. Research Consumer Needs and Questions.

To write more useful and attractive article, first you should find out consumer needs, wants and questions and offer practical solution to these problems in your typical article marketing.

3. Write Intriguing Articles.

Write articles that will intrigue and give useful information to readers. This will help you gain trust as an expert in your field.

4. Writing In Talking, Frank Style.

Imagine as if you are talking to a reader, trying to understand him, answering to this questions and helping to find the right solution to his problem.

5. Write and Publish Articles Minimum 5 Days A Week.

Write at least 3-5 articles every day and publish them on top article directories once you have finished them. It will help your websites gain natural, quality backlinks on a daily basis.

6. Create A Promising Resource Box For Your Articles.

Promise to solve a reader’s problem or give away a valuable bonus in your resource box.

7. Submitting Articles Only To Top 10 Article Directories.

Never try to submit your articles to 50 or more sites. It is more effective and time saving to publish articles on top 10, high PR article directories, than on 50 or 100 sites with a lower ranking.

Keyword research is an important way to build authority for your site, as well as the best way to drive targeted ongoing free traffic. If you are aren’t using keyword research, you should be. If you don’t know how, this article will help you learn how to find good keywords.

What are good keywords?

Everyone throws around the term keyword research, and find good keywords, the problem is most beginning marketers and online entrepreneurs don’t know what those terms mean, or how to do them! At the most basic keyword research is the process of finding words or phrases that are relevant to your site that you can rank well in the search engines for.

A good keyword is a word or phrase that people are actually using in the search engines to find information. You also want to make sure your word or phrase is competitive, but not so much so that you can not beat the other sites competing for this keyword.

Where do I find good keywords?

Finding good keywords is a process. It starts out with brainstorming. You can start with looking at your site. What does your site offer? What do you want your site to be known for? You can do some thinking on these topics before you even start a site and will be ahead of the game.

If you are looking for profitable things to write about you can also check at Amazon, see what the popular things are there. You can also use their categories to start some keyword research and find some tight niches to write about.

Another brainstorming technique, if you are starting out, and don’t have a website it to just look around. Niches are everywhere. Write down every little thing you can see from right where you are. You should be able to build a list at least a page long by doing this.

Once you have some keyword ideas from this brainstorming you are going to take them to the next step which is evaluating these options to see if they are good keywords.

How do I know I have chosen good keywords?

This is a two step process. You want to evaluate both search volume and competition. To evaluate search volume (the amount of people actually using your chosen keyword in search engines) you will need some tools. These tools will show you how many people are searching, and depending on the tool you choose a lot more. You can get started at the source itself, Google. Google now provides search volume on it’s Adwords Keyword Tool.

Take the ideas you’ve come up with and enter them in the search box within the keyword tool. The results will come back, not only for your keyword, but many other suggestions Google will find for you. You want to find keywords with at least 50 searches a day, and of course more searches is fine.

Make sure you take a note of the keywords you find with a good search volume. We’ll take those to the second stage of this process, which is the level of competition.

How much is too much competition?

Competition in keywords is a funny thing. You definitely want some competition. It means people are making money on that keyword. You don’t want too much competition though, or you won’t be able to beat them in the search engine rankings.

So take a look at your keywords in Google. You want to see how many competing pages there are (with your keyword in quotes) you also want to check the page rank of the top listed sites. Another variable you want to measure is the number of links the top sites have. These are the elements you will be competing with these sites on, so you want to make sure you can beat them.

As you can see finding good keywords is a process. It seems complicated and can be overwhelming, but doing good keyword research is the best way to get organic search traffic from the major search engines. Once you know how to do keyword research you can use the information in every aspect of your business, whether it’s building websites, writing posts on blog, writing articles. You name it, and you can use keyword research to increase your business.

I recently met with a business owner that sells manufactured homes (better known as mobile homes). The company is established and has decent branding, but lacks a Web site (thus the reason I was there). Preliminary meetings with our prospective clients normally involve quite a bit of investigation into the business, their primary target audience, and brainstorming about potential keywords. During the meeting I learned about his industry, clients, and the challenges his business encounters. He explained very clearly that they despise the term “Mobile Home” and preferred the terms “Manufactured Housing” or “Modular Homes.” I am a Real Estate Broker and have seen this marketing shift in the last several years and was not surprised.

After the meeting was over and I got back to the office to begin the research, it quickly became obvious that the business owner was not going to like what I was going to tell him. The term “mobile home” was searched approximately 5x’s more than “modular home.” If he wants to build an effective Web site for his company, he would need to optimize for the term “mobile home” – the term he despises.

This story is a prime example of what keyword research is all about. SEO is not just about making the site rank high in the search engines, it’s about doing market research and then targeting the desired traffic. Please don’t misunderstand, just because one keyword has more traffic than another, it doesn’t mean it is better for your business to optimize for that keyword. For example: As a Real Estate Broker would it be smarter to optimize for “homes for sale” (A) or “Real Estate Agent” (B)? Even though (A) may have 10x’s the amount of traffic; an individual that searches for (B) is likely a better target market. Some people can browse for homes for years without actually buying, while someone searching for the services of a Real Estate Agent is more likely to convert.

Keyword research and analysis is the basic foundation of SEO work. It can mean the difference of success or failure for your online marketing strategy. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in campaigns that actually increased specific keyword traffic via integration of Offline and Online marketing techniques. In most cases though, the human user is the driving factor which determines the direction of your SEO efforts and Web design.

You need keywords which are frequently used by web users, yet not in high demand among your competitors. In order to find these keywords, there are many keyword research tools out thee which you can use.

Wordtracker is by far one of the best tools that is available for you when it comes to searching the relevant keywords that you need for your search engine optimization purposes of your website or blogs. Unfortunately this tool comes with a hefty annual or monthly subscription fee. Wordtracker also comes with a free trial tool and you will also have the option to pay a given sum to access the tool for certain duration. Other than Wordtracker, there are other tools including Google AdWords tool and Guidebeam.

Overture’s keyword tool which used to be free and a bit more faster than Wordtracker; in terms of functionality, it was similar to Wordtracker but will not let you know how many other websites are targeting that keyword or key phrase. The tool though was discontinued; the alternative now is Google keyword tool. If you feed in one word, this tool will give you all of the relevant combinations using this word along with the number of searches performed for them. If you entered something which is not being used very much, no results will come up; this tells you that few, if any searches have been done for that word or phrase.

Google Keyword Tool gives you potential keywords for use in your SEO and marketing efforts and gives you the Google statistics on these terms, along with their search engine usage (and trends in the frequency of searches for these terms). Other features of Google Keyword Tool include:

Sorting the results for your chosen keyword by popularity, history in the AdWords program, cost and predicted position.

Simple keyword manipulation, you can select keywords individually or add a large number at once.

Searching for keywords in any URL you specify. The tool can also search on pages linked to or from that URL.

The database of statistics is regularly updated, so that new keywords and key phrases are available as they come up.

Guidebeam guidebeam dotcom is another good keyword tool. Search for a keyword or key phrase and it will also suggest related searches. The statistics it gives for each keyword or phrase is weighted by relevance.

All of these keyword tools can be a great help to those who need to perform keyword research for the purposes of SEO for their own website.

Adwords keyword research tools are valuable and essential to anyone using Google Adwords to promote their websites. Most people think that such keyword research tools are only capable of pulling out huge keyword lists to be used in their Adwords pay-per-click (PPC) campaign. Little do they know that these tools are also effective in digging out useful information about keywords that could be used for other PPC campaigns and even for search engine optimization. Let’s learn several useful Adwords keyword research tips and why Adwords keyword research tools are so powerful in reaping lists of profitable keywords.

One quick keyword research tip before starting a PPC campaign is to build a keyword list of at least 1000 keywords. Keyword research is necessary. Brainstorm and start off with a few keywords, perhaps 5 main keywords associated with the product. You may wish to use several free online Adwords keyword research tools such as:

1. Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool

Search for the main keywords and copy down the lists of related-keywords in a Notepad file. Dig 1 more level into each related keyword to find variations/extensions of the root keywords. These keywords are what we call long-tails. Example, “best online Adwords keyword research tools” is a long tail from the root keyword phrase “Adwords keyword research tools”.

2. Google Search Engine

Find and visit each of the top 10 search engine results for your targeted main keywords. Go to your internet browser under “View”, click on “Page Source” to display the meta-keywords. Copy them. These are golden keywords and phrases that expert webmasters have painstakingly researched. They are yours free.

3. Google Adwords Keyword Research Tool

This is the web address https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. This free Adwords keyword research tool is a handy tool. Make use of the “Site-Related” tab to make interesting discovery of keywords targeted by top ranking websites. You would be pleasantly surprised at some of the keywords which you would never have thought of.

The second Adwords keyword research tip is a sneaky. It is like an espionage mission – I will teach you how to spy on competitors who are advertising in Adwords. With your keyword list, key in one main keyword and take note of the websites that show up in the Adwords text ad on the right in Google. Repeat this for all the 5 main keywords and see if there is a common website that shows up all the time.

Target this website to spy on. Open a Microsoft Excel document and list down all the keywords in your list that this competing website shows up for. Observe the list of keywords over a period of 1 – 4 weeks and see if this website still appears for each of the keyword. Eliminate those which dropped out and retain those that it is still targeting. There is good reason to do so as there is a likelihood that these are profitable keywords/phrases that continue to make money for the website. This explains why it is paying big bucks to stay within top 5 in the Adwords for these keywords.

Did you know that some expert marketers are employing these secret Adwords keyword research tips and tricks to earn outrageous amounts of money? Not only so, they are using Adwords keyword research tools to automate these otherwise manual and tedious tasks. Imagine how painful and time-zapping to do this for one product, not to mention repeating them to dozens of websites and products. Learn how you can be like them and start using secret keyword research tips from my free ebook which you can download at my blog. You would also discover which Adwords keyword research tools can explode your earnings almost instantly.
